One solitary path to follow
Here's a thought, scripture, and prayer to guide us.
Thought:
A friend of mine shared the below with me this week. The other night Brayden was talking with us how he listened via Audible, The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer. We read that before, a couple years ago, and it has helped change the trajectory of how we pace ourselves in life. Not being busy, but leading full lives of intentionality. Not moving so fast we are losing the moments, but moving at a sustainable pace we appreciate the moments. Not doing things so much we can’t make time for what matters most, people. Jesus modeled for us that he walked at an interruptible pace because what mattered most was, as God, interfacing with people. And for us what’s most important is to interface with God and bring him to others. So here we are in life, needing to be intentional to not do too much or go too fast or get too busy or lose track of valuing God‘s most prized created possession, his imagers. Here we are, in the words of Eugene Peterson, learning his unforced rhythms of grace.
Scripture:
"The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come with me." Song of Songs 2:13
"But only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." Luke 10:42
Song:
Here's a tremendous song I came across this week and at the heart of its lyrics we find the message God is expressing to us in the theme of coming to him.
Prayer:
Father God draw us close to you and help us know we are loved by you. Chase away all the noise, all the distractions, all the identity replacers, and all the people who would move our allegiance away from you in Jesus name amen.
