The Path to True Identity
Here's a thought, scripture, and prayer to guide us.
Thought:
I am many things: a pastor, a follower of Jesus, a father, a husband, a chocolate lover, an adventurer, a fitness enthusiast, a writer, Youtuber and more. But at the core of it all, I am simply human. Like you, my identity is wrapped in stories, roles, and responsibilities. Yet, none of these define my essence.
The most powerful "I am" statement doesn’t come from us; it comes from God himself. When Moses asked who God was, he answered, "I AM WHO I AM" (Exodus 3:14). This is not just a name—it’s a revelation of God's eternal presence, a reminder that he is constant, unchanging, and always near.
In Jesus, we find this same truth. Jesus declares, "I am the bread of life," "I am the good shepherd," "I am the way, the truth, and the life." Each statement unveils a piece of who God is, but it also invites us into a relationship where our identity is found in him.
So, when you think about who you are—remember, you are loved, redeemed, and called by the Great I AM. All else flows from that truth.
Scripture:
“God replied to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you.” Exodus 3:14 CSB
Prayer:
Father God keep us honoring, revering, and openly sharing your name. Thank you for revealing your name to us so we are able to know who you are, have a relationship with you, and help introduce others to know you and be known by you too. In Jesus name amen!!
