Devotional: Our Next Step

Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step. -Martin Luther King Jr.

Sometimes we have no idea what God's plans are. Sometimes we cannot see the vision, but the only thing we may know is the next step we are supposed to take. We may not even know the direction that we are going, but that next step is the first piece to getting there.

That's what takes faith. We must step out with one foot to go in that direction, in God's direction.

It takes a lot of trust to have faith, but of course God is the only one truly worthy of it. When we put faith in him, then he is able to manifest himself through us and bless others. That won't happen unless we take this step of faith.

So that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. -Hebrews 6:12

Prayer

Lord please give me boldness to take that step of faith even if I can't see where my foot will land. Help me trust your plan and have patience in your timing. In Jesus name. Amen!

To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. -2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
